Orders To the Sentry
Preamble – “Sir/Ma’am, the ___ order to the sentry is...”
1. Take charge of this post and all government property in view.
2. Walk my post in a military manner, keeping always on the alert, and observing
everything that takes place within sight or hearing.
3. Report all violations of orders I am instructed to enforce.
4. Repeat all calls from posts more distant from the guardhouse than my own.
5. Quit my post only when properly relieved.
6. Receive, obey, and pass on to the sentry who relieves me, all orders from the
Commanding Officer, Command Duty Officer, Officer of the Deck, and all officers and
petty officers of the watch only.
7. Talk to no one except in the line of duty.
8. Give the alarm in case of fire or disorder.
9. Call the Officer of the Deck in any case not covered by instructions.
10. Salute all officers and all colors and standards not cased.
11. Be especially watchful at night, and during the time for challenging, challenge all
persons on or near my post, and to allow no one to pass without proper authority.

Uniform Expectations
Cadets are required to wear their NJROTC Uniform once a week on the designated uniform day Unless there is an Exemption, or the Uniform day is moved. Normally this will be every Thursday. Cadets need to wear their uniform for the entire day (the entire time they are at school).
Uniform wear is a graded item. Cadets are graded on how they have placed insignia, the cleanliness of the uniform, that they have all proper uniform items, Maintaining bearing and posture, as well as on their grooming standards. The standards that are graded are given to each Cadet in their Cadet Reference Manual/General Knowledge packet and have been explained in class.
1. Failure to wear the uniform on uniform day (unexcused): If a Cadet fails to wear their uniform on the designated uniform day (unexcused). If they fail to wear their uniform on the designated uniform day, they will receive a grade of 0 (zero) for that week's uniform grade.
2. Absent on uniform day (excused absence): If a Cadet is absent on their designated uniform day they are to wear their uniform on the next day back at school.
Uniform Measurements
Males:
Name Tag – 1⁄4 inch centered above the right breast pocket
Ribbons – 1⁄4 inch centered above the left breast pocket
Females:
Name Tag – 6 and 1⁄4 inches centered down the right middle seam
Ribbons – 6 and 1⁄4 inches centered down the left middle seam
Both Genders:
Rank – 1 and 7/8 inches centered on the right collar
J-Bar – 1 and 7/8 inches centered on the left collar
Service Stars – 1⁄4 inch above the top row of ribbons
Garrison Cap (Anchor) – 2 inch centered from the fore crease on the
left side; 1 1⁄2 inches from the bottom
Medals - 1⁄4 inch below the ribbons on the wearer’s left breast
Male Hair – Tapered around the ears and neck; may not touch the tips
of the ears or the collar; no longer than 4 inches in length and 2 inches
in bulk. Sideburns cannot extend past the middle of the ear.
Female Hair – Must look like a natural hair color and be pulled back
into a bun, ponytail, braid(s), or cut short. Buns may be gelled
back so that there are no bangs or stray hairs. Ponytails or braids must
not extend past three inches below the bottom of the collar. Short hair
may also be neatly gelled back, and cannot extend past the bottom
edge of the collar.
