Welcome to The Cary High School NJROTC 2012-2013 Academic Year!

All cadets participating in a NJROTC summer program and returning for the 2013-2014 academic year must have an updated WCPSS sports physical. May 21st and May 29th, 6pm-8pm Sports Physicals will be given by the Carolina Family Practice & Sports Medicine for $10 with no appointment required (cash/check only). All proceeds will be donated back to Cary High School. Complete physical forms, with Parent/Guardian Signature, prior to arrival. If you need assistance in printing these documents have your cadet visit the media center (free black/white prints).
The Cary High School NJROTC unit intends to participate in the Basic Leadership Training (BLT) camp that is sponsored by Pisgah High School at Camp Daniel Boone Boy Scout Camp (near Asheville) this summer, August 4th-9th. Participation will be limited to approximately 20 cadets. The camp will include many activities, such as hiking, swimming, white-water rafting, tubing, canoeing, marksmanship, archery, ropes courses and rappelling. Cadets who participate will live in small cabins (which may have canvas roofs) for the week.
Requirements to participate:
- PRT/1 mile run time- Since there will be many physical events each day and daily hiking up and down mountain trails, participants must be in good physical condition. Boys must be able to run a mile in 9 minutes or less and girls must be able to run a mile in 11 minutes or less.
- A current WCPSS physical exam (completed during May 2013), Health Risk Screening, and Navy Standard Release Form are mandatory!
- The cost to participate is $230 per cadet. Additional costs for the BLT camp are subsidized by the NJROTC Booster Club. Payment is due by May 24th.
- If we have more cadets that desire to attend BLT than we are able to take, selection will be on a first come, first served basis of qualified cadets.
